At Green Valley High, soccer star Diego and football captain Zeca are bitter rivals. A surprise kiss at practice sparks Zeca's relentless pursuit—he has been in love with Diego for years. But when Diego finds a note marked D.K. in Zeca's ring box, he assumes Zeca is after Diana, the cheer captain. Tension simmers through teasing, being swept into each other's arms, flowers on the beach, and running away from one another. A sincere kiss in theater class and Zeca protecting Diego in an alley break down Diego's defenses. At the school dance, a misunderstanding makes Diego run away, bringing his graduation forward. Everything peaks at the championship game. Zeca climbs the bleachers, declares his love in public, and reveals that D.K. is Diego himself. Their love finally comes true.
